This past weekend the kids and I headed down to San Diego for an appt. I had scheduled for Monday...unfortunantly we got stuck along with thousands of others on the 5 South for hours. We didn't move an inch in 5 hours, people had their cars turned off and were walking up and down the freeway wondering what was happening since there was nothing posted and no one could get radio reception in that area. I tried calling family and friends to find out what was going on and finally Dad told me the accident occurred the night before and was on CNN News and that I was gonna be there awhile...We couldn't pull off the road to exit even though the nearest exit was 1/2 mile away cause no one was moving....The kids were real angels though and after 5 hours of not moving we finally got on a detour that lead around the accident and back on to the 5 South and after a 10 hour trip we made it to San Diego, Thank God!!!! The freeways were closed for a few days and we were finally able to make it home Wednesday night! Even though our trip down there was long we had a fun time too, my sister Claire happend to go into labour while we were down there so we got to meet her new little girl Evie Sofia, and we were able to spend time with the kids cousins...Evan, Emmer and Ella...We took the kids to a pumpkin patch in Fallbrook which they loved..They had Pony rides, Hay rides, they got to choose a pumpkin and the Fire department had one of their Fire engines on display for the kids to check out. The Fire Captain let them climb up and press different buttons, listen to their headsets and more...it was a good time!

For those who didn't hear about the incident on the 5 here is an article on it!
Tunnel crash shuts down Interstate 5 north of L.A.
Several big rigs pile up, catch fire, killing at least two and snarling traffic late Friday; officials hope for Tuesday reopening

SANTA CLARITA -- A late-night crash in a Southern California freeway tunnel quickly turned into a fiery, chain-reaction pileup that mangled several trucks, killed at least two people and shut down the key north-south route as the wreckage burned into Saturday.
The crash late the night before involved five to six big rigs and several passenger cars and sent people fleeing for their lives from the flaming tunnel. At least five of the trucks burst into flames, and the fire spread to the other vehicles. Ten people were injured.

Firefighters began hauling debris out of the tunnel Saturday. Officials hope to reopen the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 by Tuesday morning, but they have been hampered by small lingering fires and concern about whether the tunnel is safe to drive through.

The pileup in the southbound truck tunnel of Interstate 5 began about 11 p.m. Friday when two big rigs collided on the rain-slickened highway about 30 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. As crashes continued throughout the 550-foot-long tunnel, five tractor-trailers burst into flames, and the fire quickly spread.
The pileup snarled traffic for miles in all directions as motorists had to navigate neighborhood streets and mountain roads to get around the wreck. It took an hour to travel 100 yards on one street just down the hill from the crash.
