I have been teaching Desiree to sight read using the "Tommy & Meg" readers, last week she read her 1st book all on her own. She was so excited about it she read it 4 times!!! I filmed it but for some reason the video isn't uploading so here is a picture instead of her with her new reader.

My neighbour and good friend Jen made this cake for Desiree yesterday for her birthday. Isn't the detail amazing! Desiree was so excited about it and wanted to eat the buttons off the dress, thankfully they were frosting buttons!

We celebrated Desiree's birthday last weekend a little earlier then normal but we wanted to make sure her friends were able to be at her party. We rented a bounce house and had a bubble machine and the kids spent the whole day playing. She wanted a princess and the frog cake but since we couldn't get one we ordered 2 princess cakes and I had little frog ice creams made, which the girls loved. I snapped a bunch of pics which you can see below in the slideshow!!!
I can't believe she is turning 4 on April 1st!

Trei's latest creation-X-Wing

Today was crazy hair day at school, we went out and got hair paint for the kids. Trei picked green, Desiree red. You can see it better in the photos on Trei. They enjoyed it and all the kids at school asked me to spray their hair too!

AHHH tomorrow Sunday, thanks to daylight saving time, we are all due to lose precious time as we set our clocks forward an hour. Of course this is annoying on a number of levels -- who wants a shorter weekend? Monday will bring about bags under our eyes as we set our clocks to whatever time we are to get up to go to work or school and alas its one hour earlier for our bodies. I think Sunday and mostly Monday wil be a loooooong day...why can't we do without these Spring forward and Fall back 1 hour changes that mess up our internal clocks for at least a week...? Or at least schedule them during Spring and Fall break so we can recover. Poor kiddos!!!!

Today was a really fun day, it was sunny and warm and Desiree and I spent the morning together shopping for her birthday party stuff. She Picked out Tinkerbell as her theme for her party. I let her pick out what plates, cups, balloons and stuff she wanted. This year she really is excited and understands birthdays. Its an added plus that Duane will be here for her birthday as he has usually been gone on trips or deployments around this time!
We also went and got a Happy Meal as thats what she wanted to eat at the park for a picnic and spent about an hour on the swing. I am very impressed that she knows how to swing all by herself, it took Trei till he was 5 (I know I shouldn't compare). I am looking forward to seeing her reaction when we have her party! Its hard to believe she is 4!

Happy Birthday Mike!!! Here is to another year, and hoping its a good one with lots of vacation time. You deserve it!

The kids' school hosted an open house last nite and displayed their recent Book projects they had made. They chose their favorite book, drew a picture of it and made a model of their favorite part. Trei chose Mission to Mars book and made an MX-81 jet out of legos. Desiree chose Mickey saves Christmas. I snapped a few pics of some of the displays.

Star Wars in Concert!!!!

So I just found out about this in the Arts section of the Fresno Bee. Looks Awesome! Mike, you and the boys may enjoy attending this its going to San Diego May 28th the tickets go on sale March 13th.... And Yup they are coming to Fresno too what a shock! Do you think this may count as a concert I can attend for my concert report for school? I am sure Duane won't have a hard time coming along with me...maybe even Trei!
Here is the link check it out...http://www.starwarsinconcert.com/#

In addition to Monster Jam Duane and I attended Beethoven's symphony No.9 at Fresno Philharmonic Sunday. Since I am taking a music class online I am required to write 3 concert reports on classical music and selected this symphony related to what I have been studying to do my first report. I have to say I enjoyed it alot more then I had anticipated. After hearing the music exclusively online it was nice to see and hear it live. The talent of the orchestra, conductor and choir amazed me!!! Now to write the report....

Monster Jam

The boys attended Monster Jam this weekend up in Fresno. They had a fun time, Trei came home telling us all about it and brought back a little monster truck for his sister! He is still talking about how awesome it was and how loud it was. Thank God for Ear Plugs!!!

Nillys Birthday

Today was Nilly's 2nd Birthday. The kids and I went out and bought her a bed and the kids mainly Desiree wanted to make her a cake and Ice cream but after explaining to her that cats get sick when they eat human food we opted for canned catfood with fish in it. Here is a video of the birthday song we sang to her. As you will see she wasn't eager to jump in her bed think she needs to get used to it.

Thursday, March 04, 2010

Its been a long week already and its only Thursday, between my speech class which as always proved entertaining and the essays due and concert report for my Music class I have had my head buried in my books and computer research. Looking forward to getting more then 5 hours of sleep this weekend and chilling with the kids! Yay!

Tuesday, March 02, 2010

Got a new laptop yay! Its been over 4 years since we upgraded and with online classes and my "old faithful" quitting on me midway thru online exams it was time. Haven't had a minute to enjoy it or install programs or transfer over stuff but am hoping to get to it this weekend.
