Christmas fun at school

The kids performed at school prior to the Christmas Break. They had to memorize Luke Chapter 2 verses 1-20 to say unanimously along with singing a few Christmas songs. They did a beautiful job and celebrated by having a class party prior to dismissal. Here are a few pictures I took of the day!

WE'VE BEEN ELFED

We were just Elfed this evening. This is our first time ever!!!!
If you are unfamiliar with what this means then read above. It is a pretty nice thing to do! I was so surprised by it and as the kids and I went to "elf" several of our neighbors, I realized what a great thing our neighborhood is doing for Christmas-sharing kindness and bringing cheer to those around them.
I am not sure who came up with the idea in our neighborhood but it was a good way to teach the kids that Christmas isn't just about receiving gifts but helping and showing kindness to others. It was so cool to see the neighborhood kids elfing homes, they all looked so happy! I find it rare these days for people to take time out of their day to do something thoughtful.

Here is Trei with a few classmates, Nate and Christian celebrating his birthday at school! We brought Klondike Ice cream bars in several flavors and played Madlibs. Good times!

Virignia Beach Holiday Parade

We attended the VA Beach Holiday parade this past Saturday. It was a small town feel but lots of fun! Local businesses participated in the parade and the kids' school had a float as well. The kids enjoyed the holiday music, variety of floats and all the candy that was passed out! Here are few pics I snapped with my phone.

Deck The Halls Day

Monday, December 2nd was Deck the Halls day at school. The kids dressed in Christmassy colors and spent the day doing holiday crafts while Christmas music filled the air. Several parents signed up to help with the craft stations. I brought in a snow making center where each child had the opportunity to make their own snow. I did this in both the 2nd & 4th grade classrooms and it was a big hit! They each got to take home their own container of snow. It was a lot of fun for the kids to enjoy the holidays with their friends at school. Here are a few pictures I took of the day!

My parents flew out for Thanksgiving weekend and it was a lot of fun! We took them to see the Cape Henry lighthouse, which was a first for us too, and we took a lot of pictures there. Trei spent the weekend watching football and playing it with Grandpa. Desiree enjoyed playing air hockey and doing crafts with Grammy. Thanksgiving dinner was also a treat with them here. Thanks for coming out!

We were blessed to have Grammy and Grandpa here for Thanksgiving. The kids did a small performance and it was followed by a thanksgiving feast! Take a look at the pics.
