Pre-K performance

This morning Desiree's class performed in Chapel. They sang 3 songs, "this little light of mine, The B-I-B-L-E, and Jesus loves the little children". Here is a clip of one of the songs...

I have been feeling rundown all week and crammed Monday and Tuesday nite for my biggest speech of the semester-Perssuasive! I picked how the budget cuts are affecting education from K-graduate level and offered some solutions to fix the problem.
It was a tough subject to research in such a short amount of time and with the added pressure from my professor to do real well in this speech it was nerve-racking to say the least. Good news is that I got an A+, and the professor stood up to say that my speech stood out from the rest and that in his entire 15 years of teaching, he has never given an A+ before in a perssuasive speech! Phew, I was thrilled, I really didn't think I did that well considering I had very little time to prepare and even less time to practice. Nice to know hard work pays off, in this case in the form of good grades!

DR. Desiree

Desiree hasn't been into dolls at all up until she saw a comercial for the "Baby Alive" doll that has medicine...Grandma Millie sent her a gift card to Toys R Us so Duane took Desiree to get her doll. Maybe its because she has been so sick recently & had to take lots of medicine she enjoys it more... I took some pictures of her that I thot to share! Thanks Millie, it couldn't have arrived at a better time! In this pose, she walked up to me and said "Mommy, this is how the DR's carry their stethoscope.

In addition to Desiree being sick last week we received news that Duane would be going on a short deployment lasting throughout the Summer. The news came as a surprise to us all but due to another ship experiencing mechanical issues our airwing is replacing them for their last few months.

Well it has been quite the week, as many of you know Desiree got very sick Wednesday morning with a very high fever and bad sounding cough which resulted in a trip to the emergency room for labs and IVS for severe dehydration. Thankfully today she has been "fever free" though still very weak from the whole ordeal and getting over the pneumonia and ear infection. Just wanted to thank everyone for taking time out of their days to call and check in on her and pray for her! We are very thankful!

Trei started in a kids Tennis league this past week, he plays every Saturday morning with alot of his friends from school! So far he is really enjoying it!

Today started off with a bang, I went into the classroom today fully assuming we were going to be given our mid-term guide for our upcoming test next week when our instructor surprised us all by informing us we were to give impromptu speaches today! We were assigned a topic once our name was called and given 1 minute to come up with a 2 minute speech.
My topic was "Do athletes get paid too much for just talent?" that was an easy enough topic and was told I did well, of course after you get back to you seat you think of better ways to have discussed the topic. But a one-minute preparation time is pretty limiting! Glad that one is done, next week is our mid-term and preparation for a Persuassive speech!

We just got back from a 3-day trip to San Diego. We went down to celebrate Desiree's birthday by taking her to Sea World. She had a really great time. Her and Trei got to pet and feed the dolphins which was the highlight of the whole day and she had so much fun taking pictures with her new camera. The drive back is always a long one and the last thing I feel like doing is sitting, but here I am at the computer..heh! Will upload and post pics of our trip in the next few days! Thanks Dad and Mom for the visit and everyone who dropped by for Desiree's birthday, she had so much fun!!! Hope you all have a wonderful Easter tomorrow!
